Today I’ve been a software developer for two weeks. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite sometime but has always seemed out of my scope. I’ve always desired a career that used problem solving and creativity. I’ve found this in bartending, I would find the right drink for customers and make it in the most efficient way possible. Also in landscaping, in which we would create landscape features for clients. Another, was the film industry where I worked among many other creative types on large scale productions. While I enjoyed these jobs, I did not see them as sustainable careers in the long run. I’d tried before to get jobs at tech companies in a customer service role but where I really long to be was in the seat of a developer. I have friends in the tech industry and they’ve always pushed me to pursue it but now I’ve finally taken the leap of faith to achieve it.
